Inventions in the Middle Ages have advanced society in Europe. The telescope, 33-Barreled Organ, Cannon, and Caravel are great inventions in the Middle Ages. These inventions made life easier in sailing, battling, and seeing the universe.
The Caravel was one of the inventions in the Middle Ages of Europe. The Caravel was a smaller ship that was easy to maneuver and go faster and farther than a regular ship in the Middle Ages. The Portuguese were the people who invented the caravel in the late 1400’s. The ship was 65 ft. tall had 3-2 masts and had a unusual triangle sail called Lanteen. This boat also could carry up to 130 tons of cargo. The Caravel also had another name, which was an Iberian Workhorse. Christopher Columbus later sailed with three ships to the new world and two of the ships were Caravels. The Caravel made it easier to sail farther and faster than other ships in the middle ages.
The Cannon was another great invention in the Middle Ages in Europe. The Cannon was considered heavy artillery in the Middle Ages. The Cannon was in World War II in the Bomber airplanes. It was an idea in 1259 by the Chinese, which were made of bamboo tubes with clay pellets. But the Cannon in the Middle Ages was made of bronze and iron. The Cannon was also used in the battle of Crecy. This invention effected society in a good way because it made war able to fire and kill from long range.
The Telescope was another great invention in the Middle Ages. Galileo was considered the first to invent the telescope but there is confusion between Hans Lippershy and Galileo. Galileo was born in Italy in Pisa in 1564 and died in 1642. The telescope was invented in the fall of 1609 in Venice. Galileo also made a book by using the Telescope called The Starry Messenger. The Telescope magnified 10 times what you could see with out it. The Telescope was made out of wood and leather, which had a convex main lens and a concave eyepiece.
The 33-Barelled Organ was a great invention the Middle Ages in Europe. Leonardo da Vinci was the inventor of the 33-Barelled Organ. He was born in 1452 and died in 1519. This invention shot bullets out of 33 barrels. But only 11 will fire and while the other 11 are being reloaded the other 11 will be shot. The 33-Barelled Organ was a great invention, which later innovated in to an Assault Machinegun. This made the weapons in the Middle Ages fire faster and reload easier and to win wars easier and faster.
The Telescope has effected society by seeing more of the cosmos and learning more of the universe and see how small are planet is compared to the universe. The Caravel has advanced society by giving the option to sail faster, farther, and maneuver easier. The Caravel was also 2 of the three boats that sailed to the new world with Christopher Columbus. The 33-Barelled Organ has advanced society by leading to the innovation of the Assault Machinegun, which made war easier to win and shoot from long distance. Then also made war to long distant shooting or firing. The Cannon has effected society by letting armies break down walls so they could get into the city/castle easier and faster. Then later in World War II was used in Bomber airplanes to fire down on enemies.
